If I remember correctly, at first it was suggested or tagged that way from just assumptions, then it was removed considering the original website didn't have such tag, also a veeeeery similar work that was actually yuri came out close to the same time creating more false assumptions.
Then later on, people were saying that it should have the tag because of Asa's friend and there was discussion about it but ultimately, I don't think it should have tags for all the people involved in this story because is about Asa and Makio and everyone else is living their own life.

So, this really doesn't contain any more yuri outside of her best friend's relationship? The anilist page even mentions transgender and aromanticism in the tags, so I'm confused. But it's funny how I once again find how people in the past demanded yuri tag even because of the queer side characters.

well the friend of Makio, the other author was transgender, and one of the friends in Makio's group was aromantic, we didn't get more from her except from that chapter, but with the other author it was more clear and even worked as part of Asa's path of finding herself at the time.

manga was great, and I would like to add and maybe I'm wrong, but I remember at the start of the manga Makio tells Asa that she can cry when she's ready to mourn her parents, I feel like her crying at the end while feeling helpless about the possibility of Asa leaving, is the moment where she finally forgives and understand her sister, we got her talking with Itsuki with taking care of Asa just being a task that she would do only until she graduates and then she will go back to her normal life and Itsuki wonders as she realize what she's actually doing and that it's not that simple, now right at the end we see reality hitting on her, they got in a "little" fight when Asa discovered about her will, and she can taste her rejection but this time as she felt in other relationship she doesn't want to sever it, like she did with her sister (ch.53 she sees the expression of her sister while talking about not having tact/empathy) and as we got last chapte too, Emiri's gf says sometimes there are no words to express something (alluding to Asa's loneliness or her love for Emiri), this time we get Makio not being able to express her love for Asa with just an "I love you", but instead we get them on her poem, Daybreak which is the first light on the morning, Asa's name, again which was named by her mom, so forgiving her sister, the one she already knows was also frail, let's her finally fully connect with Asa too. (as at the start she even said to Asa's face that she wouldn't know if she could love her, in part because of her mother/sister).

Great manga, would have loved to get a little more of her 3rd year, or the rest of the characters (like give some Kasamachi interaction by the end too hahaha), but the story was meant to shown it like this, one great manga to start the year, I would give a 9.5/10 eaaaasily.
Hope that any person that got to this manga, enjoyed fully, helps them on their path or nurture their way to finding themselves and most of all, let's them forgive themselves and their demons.

ahh for sure, the tags should be used if it correspond, I would say the yuri is more valid as the manga focuses a lot on Emily's story across the manga , valid on the side as there's yuri on the story not that is the main focus, the other two nope, specially since the aromantic is touched very little.

I’d almost say Kasamachi-kun is third most important as he’s a lot more prevalent and provides the most support to both Makio and Asa.

I'm not familiar with this character yet, but after Mizuki, I'm not surprised by aggressive attempts to impose gender definitions on non-binary characters. Also, am I right in understanding that in the finale Makio got back together with her ex-boyfriend, while Asa doesn't have a love interest at all?

Makio and Kasamachi’s relationship is left open-ended. I’d like to think they are still in an exclusive relationship, just one that might not be defined as the standard norm of dating. Kasamachi is still clearly in love with Makio and I think he is okay with being close to Makio in any capacity that she’s comfortable with.

This was a good read. Definitely one of those mangas you'd read and pick a lesson or two. The story telling feels grounded and realistically.

I just randomly saw this on twitter that it was getting an adaptation and havent watched the anime, yet. I'm curious how the characters sound like and Asa's singing.

So far the anime has been doing an amazing job with adapting the manga with the 12 episode time crunch they have. The only drawback is that the anime has shortened or skipped some scenes/dialogue that flesh out the characters more.

I hope it's successful whether I like it or not. We've been getting more shoujo and mature shonen/seinen, but there's still not enough josei or serious dramas.

Non-binary people are transgeder. Being transgender means your sex and gender identity don't align.
