I cried....

I know Asa can be a brat sometimes... but she is a brat, a child, and a lone child without her parents who loves her anymore.

And I'm glad that even though Makio completely fumbles and doesnt understand how a chid who just lost their parents works. She tried her best to communicate in her awkward way.

HOLYSHIT Makio is so fucking awkward its hilarious, she's Horrible at human interaction that it legit makes me wonder how she ever had a lover at one point, still tho I liked it how she at least tried to help asa

and oh boy did asa have some great fucking face reactions this chapter, still feel really bad for her and I can relate to that loneliness sometimes when I'm in my room even though I still live with family, legit can't imagine the dread it will be when I have to live alone in a house/apartment, will def get a dogo first week when I do to help me combat that

Yeah, can't picture that going the romantic route at this point. Does Makio-bot even have a romance module installed?

But if anything, she'd somehow get together with her ex and they'd be a little family together with Asa.

Asa is indeed very lonely and there isn't much Makio can do about that, I feel really bad for her... But she's trying, really hard, so I believe they'll find a balance.

I finished a reread to refresh my memory of this manga, a detail I'm a bit fixated on is the fact that Asa's parents are an unmarried couple ('common law wife' used in the second chapter + they have different surnames). In this chapter Asa's mother is shown having an argument with Asa's dad in a flashback, which seems to be about whether they should get married for Asa's sake. With the way the panels are composed, I'm frustrated that it's a bit hard to work out who's saying what though. (page: https://mangadex.org/chapter/787315/28) Like is Asa's mother saying 'It's for Asa!' because the panel is meant to be emanating from her mouth, or is Asa's dad saying it because the word bubble is closest to him?

The next line (line 2), 'when it comes down to it, I'm just not confident I can have a family!' is imo the important one, if the mum is saying that, that's interesting as Makio also considers herself incapable of having a family, suggesting the sisters aren't all that different; if the dad is saying it, then it instead emphasises Makio & her sister's differences. For line 3: 'Then what have we been all this time? What are we?!' the bubble is closest to the mum & her mouth is open, so on my second look, I think the dad is saying line 2, though I originally thought the mum was saying it. So if that's the case, I guess the reason Asa's mum, otherwise somewhat strict & intent on doing things properly (from what little we've seen of her), was unmarried is because Asa's dad refused to commit.

This is all to say, I'm pretty interested in seeing what Makio & Minori's house life was like, eg what caused one sister to become so intent on saving face & living 'properly', to the point that Makio felt totally unwelcome wrt having anything to do with her own family. Minori must've felt a lot of shame from not getting married.

@mystriga I think if we go by the new chapter, we can probably assume:

Line 1: Mum
Line 2: Dad
Line 3: Mum
Line 4: Dad

Not sure if you've read it yet so I won't say what makes me think gives it away but judging from that chapter I would be safe to assume that's who is saying what.

@Jakeandhistoe yeah, I've had time to read chapter 14 now & I agree! It paints out Asa's parents' personalities pretty clearly, I guess maybe the argument we were shown here isn't all that important/wasn't given that much attention/care, as it's just supposed to lead into a more thorough look into their characters in the next chapter.
