Stars with a talk about love and ends with Hawaii and Mad Max...But I'm not lost because the writing is good. Even when Makio talks "weird" in a way that the others won't understand but readers understand because we have her point of view too.. That's good writing I think~ (and thanks to the translator too)

4th place?! I would like to have a word with the judges, not sure if I want to hear who was first (honestly I'm actually curious, I think I remember voting in this poll).

Thanks for the update! a full Makio chapter was really nice.

Ok so am I the only one who thinks Emiri could be gay with her "I feel like I'm different from everybody" comment and some other small flags before that hinted to me and also it looks like she was in complete shock at being able to choose and freaking out about it aka this looked like her first time being able to choose something in life which tells me along with the marriage talk that it seems like her mom controls her fucking life and thats actually sad to see....poor girl, being closet gay and having a control freak parents, looks like Asa isn't the only one having it hard

@dokidoki

Yep! I also thought the same thing.

I like how after she talked a bit with Makio she seemed so comfortable and opened up

Emiri is definitely a lesbian, an earlier chapter outright confirmed it when she said that she was interested in female idols, why is the author trying to be subtle now?

Also, seems like a love triangle between the adults is afoot.

While I don't think that earlier chapters blatantly portrayed Emiri as a lesbian (hints and signs maybe, but nothing...definitive), it's definitely entertaining the idea now lol.

We'll see what she says when she returns Fried Green Tomatoes. Good one, Makio.

Yes, Fury Road is a masterpiece. Problem is it completely ruins every other action movie you watch after, because they're simply dishwater in comparison.

@dokidoki Emiri is for sure gay, but the point of this chapter at least is that she doesn't actually know this for herself. See: the tea choice bits, and her repeating her mother's thoughts on marriage. She doesn't even realize that options outside of marrying some dude are even available to her. Makio realizes some of this towards the end of the chapter, and lends her a movie centered on two "very good friends," who are actually much more than that.

Never seen Fried Green Tomatoes, so I wiki'd it and yeah, makes perfect sense. Thanks for spotting it.

I didn't expect that lawyer dude to be a serious ... let's say ... friend interest. Usually I'd just assume he's the new love interest and all that, but I'd be retrospectively disappointed if that got developed right in a "not everyone needs to get married and all that" chapter, I guess.

@dkchubs I didn't know about that movie at all and thought the author just made up some random movie LOL but yeah I know she doesn't know she's gay hence why I stated closeted gay but I guess I used the wrong term and also the not realizing there's options or more like she's able to make her own choices where obvious from the what do you want to drink moment and from also past chapters when those two met for the first time like it almost felt like Emiri is following a script aka her mothers script, what was interesting was that she hinted that she didn't wana marry or have a husband like her parents want her to do but she probably thinks its the norm and hates it without realizing she doesn't have to get married.....now I wonder how long will it take to figure out that her mother is wrong and realize that she can be free

......... holy shit while typing this I just fucking realized that emiri's mother is JUST LIKE fucking Asa's mother was which is why Makio didn't like her at all, oh man this is gona be fun to read and I especially think things are gona hit the fan when Emiri's mother meets Makio cause oh boy I 100% believe they are gona clash HARD

we now got

Asa - dealing with parents death
Emiri - breaking free from control and accepting herself
Makio - becoming a parent/I predict having to decide between the lawyer or ex to date one of them
things are getting juicy now

Why would Emiri be gay? These are 15 year old kids, of course they feel "weird" and "strange". It's called puberty

@Weabooribs This chapter heavily implied it with Fried Green Tomatoes and there were a decent amount of hints from chapters before. Like her mentioning a cute kid and then immediately chatting up a girl, being generally dismissive about boys, and liking girl idols. On their own it wouldn't be much, but those hints together with this chapter is the author practically slapping it in your face. Anyways, Makio caught a whiff of that and decided to let Emiri figure it out for herself (hence giving her a movie about two gal pals)

@Weabooribs Why wouldn't that be a possibility? Obviously it is up to her to figure it out, as was heavily implied in this chapter. Most of the weirdness and strangeness of puberty (that isn't simply being a hormonally charged emotional mess) is down to not understanding oneself. Resolution comes with understanding and accepting one's own feelings of sexual desire, no matter who they are directed at, and accepting wanting to be desired and by whom.
