I was reading the chapter as if I were in Emily's shoes and I got stressed over the things she was hearing and seeing, I can relate to some stuff and it's hard... And of course, her relation with Asa changed forever, everything was just natural and carefree before and now there's that "duty" feeling you can't shake off, things could be like always but that feeling will be there in the back of your mind from now on, it sucks! and she can't tell Asa about it.

Also she was drawn so niiiiiice this time, like it really made me think "damn she's cute!" and yeah I like her beach, that's so nice... And as always, Makio's way with words is so good! but Asa still needs to work on her understanding of people, that her normalcy doesn't apply to everyone.

I hope things don't go off rails for Emily now, but if it does, she will probably try to seek Makio's help instead of Asa or her own family.

I like how Emiri connects with Makio. I think that she feels safer with her and that she looks up to her since she sort of defies expectations. She may also have helped her materialize and accept her differences. I hope that she and Asa won't drift apart too much, though Asa needs to grow up a bit.
Also, I'm pretty sure that touching someone with their consent while saying "I like you" means that you're going out with them. I know disaster lesbians is a meme, but come on. ^^

Asa really needs to learn that her way of life is not the only way there is. She's always disagreeing with things that go against her own way but never tries to *truly* understand why. Like she'll ask "why" but feels like she's asking that just out of frustration, but never to understand.

That's going to be a weird thing to say, but in moments like Emiri challenging her dad about how certain behavior was always sexist and hasn't just "become sexist" this barely feels like a manga, and way more like current Western media. Surrounded by the various harem isekai stories or ecchi comedies and of course plenty of stories that just don't touch on any of these topics it's just so completely different, and way more outspoken in a general sense. There's of course manga that tackle other specific issues, but this one got that whole "maybe you should question what 'normalcy' means" and talks about all these themes like motherhood, family relations, sexism, friendship, romantic relationships, careers, etc and I can't say I've seen any other manga come even just close to a general social critique like this one.

I hope her and Asa don't drift apart...Asa needs all the support that she can get. But it feels like Emiri has to hide herself from everyone and the only one who seems to get her is Makio.

Actually, after reading this again I’m wondering if Emiri has a crush on Makio. She’s spending alot of time wondering what makio thinks and texting her in bed goodnight (and ignoring Asa!).

But this chapter finally confirms that Emiri is gay. Its been hinted before. No idea of Makio’s preferences but no way would she go for someone Emiri’s age.

@Scruffy I'm pretty sure Makio is straight, because of the guy she used to date. I don't think she's bi because she likely would have mentioned it to Emiri when Emiri was asking her if it was okay to be lesbian.

I liked seeing this chapter from Emiri's perspective. honestly I really relate to feeling somewhat obligated to stay with a friend bc something happens in their life, even if I like being with them. but I guess I don't really blame Asa for acting immature bc it seems like she only just realized how much her parents' death (or at least her mom's) affected her
