i liked this chapter. but i found emiri unlikable (not as a character, but as a person), talking so easily about asa as "the friend who lost her parents." idk. i guess it's not as bad since it's with someone who's presumably her girlfriend (so not just a casual acquaintance), but given her past of spreading that knowledge at their middle school, it felt kinda blah. somehow the part about "now i gotta be her friend forever" - the only time i ever felt something like this was with people in the "not quite friend" territory. like, anyone i've loved i never felt that regret over the responsibility i'd have for them. is it weird to find that unlikable even if i know it's a normal feeling she's having?
it seems like emiri and asa are friends by habit than actual compatibility. i'm interested in seeing them drift apart, honestly.
