I was having similar thoughts when Emiri brought up the "it was sexist then, and it's sexist now" line. Manga is so rife with escapist fantasies that a story like this one, which challenges society's more insidious prejudices, is a rare and welcome find. It doesn't have many chapters uploaded on this site yet, but I would recommend Mystery to Iunakare as another story that's boldly touched upon some of those topics you've mentioned, and holds promise to continue doing so.

okay, this is a small detail, but i think it encompasses just why this manga is 10/10: the typo in the text messages with "red /*read" - it's so true to life, and feels like an honest depiction of humans interacting, not these sugary implausible fantasy relationships in like 99.9% of everything else

@Scruffy I definitely agree with you about Emiri having a crush on Makio, but I'm fairly certain that the last phone screen panel is Emiri telling Asa she's going to bed not Makio. The pattern on the shirt in that panel matches Asa's
I could be wrong but I hope not! Honestly I think if Makio was the one replying while having this convo with Asa it would reflect really badly on her

omg also....idt emiri likes makio but instead sees her as someone she can confide in who simply accepts her as a person....just bc shes gay it doesnt mean shes in love with makio??? but also a lot of u guys are forgetting makio is 20 yrs older than her and emiri is in high school...ur main concern shouldnt be if makio is gay but that if she was interested in her that would be pedophilia and clearly makio is Not that

also, the usual cringe with comment section playing guess the orientation of every chara because 1L_confirmed=1.
gotta say though, pairing makio with emily and making them exchange illicit texts with each other is some next level shit, even for you guys.
(and looking back to chapter 18 thread I can now safely confirm I was right to be annoyed with consequences of initial mistagging this as gl)

i liked this chapter. but i found emiri unlikable (not as a character, but as a person), talking so easily about asa as "the friend who lost her parents." idk. i guess it's not as bad since it's with someone who's presumably her girlfriend (so not just a casual acquaintance), but given her past of spreading that knowledge at their middle school, it felt kinda blah. somehow the part about "now i gotta be her friend forever" - the only time i ever felt something like this was with people in the "not quite friend" territory. like, anyone i've loved i never felt that regret over the responsibility i'd have for them. is it weird to find that unlikable even if i know it's a normal feeling she's having?
it seems like emiri and asa are friends by habit than actual compatibility. i'm interested in seeing them drift apart, honestly.
