I'm always iffy about the topic of body weight in manhwas/mangas/manhuas. I often feel it isn't addressed properly. I can see that some are also peeved about it. I'm not even mad about the drawing bc art is often exaggerated and not true to life but when talking about it/dealing with her obesity, I wish they do well in it.

I'm not expecting much though to be completely honest.

Bruh what's wrong with being overweight? Overweight girls are still beautiful, I don't like how this reincarnated beach is thinking, Tara isn't ugly at all. I know South Koreans are obsessed with being thin (I think Miss Korea said that 60kg is considered overweight, and she got hate comments because she was 60kg+) but still, you shouldn't put this in a manwha. "I'm just an ugly, fat girl" if I were overweight I wouldn't exactly be the happiest woman on earth you know. And why would you even bother making her overweight if she's gonna be thin anyway?

@International_Playboy:

Yup. This one's as clear-cut a case of "draw an adorable plump person and call them ugly" as I've seen.

It's frustrating precisely because I know people believe that poison. Heck, I've spent years trying to fully unlearn all the implicit "lessons" about fatness that our society slides down our throats, even though I was raised to some extent in liberal super-acceptance-land...

The cultural stuff in Korea is what it is... but it's always depressing. Of course we have it this side of the globe, too. I was actually really relieved there was nothing toxic in this particular comments section. ~w~

Also to the extent that these pseudo-European pseudo-historical romances care about accuracy (i.e. very little, ah well), it's worth noting that being plump was totally in fashion for a lot of Europe's history. >_>;;

Glad I’m not the only one that really hates how overweight people are portrayed in mangas. I’m not overweight so it’s not personal. And I’ve lived in North America, Europe and SE Asia - so I get the cultural differences thing... but it still really upsets me. It distracts from the plot. I want to read this but it’s just so distracting. 🤦‍♀️
