I like this story, though I feel its central conflict is hard to believe.
Is being married on paper such an egregious offense that it's worth breaking off a relationship when both parties clearly love each other, neither has cheated in the time they've been together, and the married partner lives multiple states away and has almost no contact?
Is this a cultural thing? Because I don't understand why she'd be more than slightly upset (and even then it is at the lack of trust, not the martial status).
