Is the maid colluding with the real mc? For some reason I don't even think the maid is evil, at the least I don't think she's the typical manipulative caretaker we see in these stories.
I am calling a fakeout where she's doing something behind lizard girl's back for her own good but the author makes it seen nefarious.

Maybe she is colluding with Erno? Remember, it took him some time to bring the maid after Ayrin arrived so they might have started something in that timeframe. Either that, or the maid is working with a third party, like a rival family or something along those lines

It drives me crazy when the MC has no ability to read the room and is completely incapable of escaping their own one-track-mindset. It's completely human and I find it believable, however, it's the biggest trope that drives me up a freaking wall. Even so, I think I will still keep reading this simply because it's a decent story.

she's really really traumatized, to the point where she doesn't even recognize the fact that he cares for her at this point
