It depends on how big the website is. The theoretical minimum would be something like $40 per year average for domain name renewals. But hosting is also an expense to consider. The tiniest websites with no traffic would cost $100 a year minimum. From there it scales up to several tens of thousands of dollars a year.

Even if they hosted it themselves, you have to consider the electricity usage and server wear and tear.
