this is a Weirdly logical thing which works primarily because it closes slightly more plotholes with Lily, then it opens with Silas.

Nothing has changed. Everything else suggests it's the same. That kind of change would also basically turn this into fanfiction, based on all the other things it would immediately alter. They wouldn't do that. It's just a new way to do what was done before to produce the same effect for a new (and returning) audience.

It's not a divergence. The masked man is using the same magic item that Rae used with Yu to switch places. The masked man parades around as Salas while Salas stays in his room with his hands pristinely clean.

Which is all the more fucked up when he looks like Lilly when these acts occur. Wearing the costume of a nun pretending to be innocent as he marionettes his daughter.

That's not what's happening though. What you're describing would be a divergence because that's not what happens in the novels. But what you describe isn't what's happening here. This is following the novels.
