I just hope this edit doesn't mess up the plot. Her dark power is what made her skin darker, so I have no issue with light power affecting her appearance, especially since it seems to be a major plot point with people treating her poorly due to her appearance. They could have at least changed her hair instead of her skin.

About her skin color, the publisher could have just made her skin into a in-between grey and white (for the normal pages), something that is lighter than Gerald skin color, but at the same time darker than everyone's else skin color, instead of keeping her original grey (manga) color, not the most noticeable but not so subtle either

@exnihelo Basically what happens is that she let out everything she was holding inside her, everyone else, aside from her brother, her girl friend (that I forgot the name), the butler, and the prince. Avoided her, treated her like someone undesirable, and always feared her. Then she receives the light spirit blessing, and all of a sudden everyone wants to be close to her, be her friend as if they never treated her badly one way or another. And that is extremely stressful to her since they all, like her parents, act as the victims when she's the victim. Just see how Claudia says to her mother that she was too late to be her mother because her mother treated her like something that was not supposed to exist and even accuses her of trying to hurt her little baby brother, and after she receives the light blessing, she's asking Claudia to forget everything that happened. Something that Claudia can't do, because one doesn't simply forget how someone is sh*t to them for years when they ask them to forget. One won't simply accept with open arms people who outcast them just because they asked them to, and when she refuses those same people who outcast her act as the victims as if she was outcasting them instead, and what happened in CK3 terms she had a mental breakdown, that made all the emotions that she was suppressing until now to explode

I really should learn never to looks at the comment sections of the series

But still loved the chapter. Light spirit abandoning her was hilarious, hoping she finds out down the road that MC was also reincarnated.

So happy she didn’t forgive her mother. Maybe her father as he tried despite how afraid of her he was. But she’s got all the friends and connections she needs. She’s basically dating a prince and is the only person in the world with godlike abilities and can heal wounds. How much influential should she be?

Her mother is selfish af.
I was almost prepared to be disappointed by a "I don't mind it, let's all be happy" response, but I'm glad Claudia stood up for herself.

Why, just...why? People discriminated against her based on her hair and skin color before as it was a sign of the dark spirit king's blessing, is it any better now that this plot point become messed up? Would it not have been better if the change stays and get's reversed a few chapter later as the plot goes on, keeping the consistency of the story? (i heard in the LN both her hair and skin color changed, tho i don't know wether it was permanent or got reversed)

@ZeroWWE wasnt she still that in the other version too? I remember reflecting over how it seemed like the blessing changed nothing outwardly.

Now that I think about it, Claudia and the others didn't mention her skin at all in this chapter
Screw the people who changed Claudia's beautiful chocolate skin🤬

Going blonde instead of having whiter skin = 100% more appropriate evidence of blessing, because she would still be stigmatized for having black skin in this allegory for discrimination. Yeah, she was never "black", but "tanned" (I would be extremely surprised if Japan even made a main character actually black and not just dark skin or tanned).

Genuinely curious now how the story will work. I'm sure a lot of the story and plot for a few chapters revolved around her being light skinned. Changing her now doesn't fix the shit plot device.

@yeeteth when did I ever mention races? I know she's dark-skinned and has black hair because of the Dark King. Just because it's from Japan or Asia doesn't mean you can still say that all of them are like that and that you can't expect a serialized manga to have a message inside. That just shows the very limited amount of mangas you've read.

I'm just going by simple color logic. A dark paint doesn't go white from just a splash of white. The Light King clearly said she only gave a little of her magic, meaning that it's not more than the Dark King, so it shouldn't make sense that she would go white from just that, at most she should've just gone lighter skinned. And many commenters agree on this point too.

From the logic I get from the Manga, her going completely white and keeping her black her would at least mean the same amount of support from both Kings, which is not the case here.

It would have taken zero effort to not make this post. Instead, you've forced me to burn calories and warn you. You know why.
If the author/artist is going to live on their knees bending to the whim of people who don't matter then they should've said screw everything and made her Mr. Popo, and a lesbian because that's the next complaint, and then disabled, then redo the whole start of the manga with her as a guy who becomes trans.
Then have her take the name of skywalker, why? fuck it all that why.

Quick someone edit the cover art so the white skinned MC doesn't trigger another riot.

Looking at the rage in these comments I started to wonder is skin color issues are common in Japan considering their homogeneous society? Rather than being insensitive aren't they just simply unaware? Or worst, the author just too lazy to add the skin tone.

I don't think this makes any sense, the visual change needs to happen. I wouldn't mind if she had blond hair instead and continue with the chocolate colour, but the visual change had to be there, otherwise is a bit weird .. people talk about this being colourism but I don't think so. Some people are so focus on things besides the plot line that it makes no sense.. and sometimes a few things are lost.. like the sense that the page where she received her blessing had.

Y'all gotta remember that not everyone has read the WN. Without knowing what happens next, changing her skin colour from "dark" to "white" seems to reinforce Japan's (and much of Asia's) belief of light skin elitism...which should not fly in 2020 🤷‍♀️
