He already had physical strength. He beat Joseph's teenage daughter at arm wrestling. It's sad when the delusion of female physical strength is shattered... also funny, lol.

Silver is a primordial witch. Those 4 witches seem to be disgustingly powerful, if Walpurgis is any indication.
The ether bit maybe related to the books, but I'd wager that Inky is the one that has full control of the books.
And I doubt Inky uses something as simple as ether
