Ok there is so many important things in this chapter that I can't convey my thoughts in a single quip. I'm just gonna list them down below.

First, WE FINALLY ARE GETTING MORE LIN BACKSTORY. :oooo:

Curious to see how he became the person he is today, especially since he looks like a very different person in that photo of him as a child. Plus, for the art to heavily emphasize his emotion when viewing that frame, I'm guessing it's probably something heavy, even for him.

Second, we basically got confirmation that inky/blackie is the god, 'Darkness'. Glad to see that we finally got an answer as to who it is. But what I find confusing is that, if Darkness consumed the sun and moon, why is it allowing the sun and moon to revive through Joseph and Little Moon. Perhaps the witches and darkness are intrinsically related? Plus, as such an old god, why did it give Lin this opportunity? Maybe it needed him? Maybe that relates to Lin's past. I'm not sure. :thonk:

Third, if Darkness specifically chose Lin, and it has something to do with his life before being Isekai'd, perhaps that old man was once a person from this newer world? Something like traversing parallel worlds or smth with magic? Idk just spit-balling

Fourth, BRO GOT HIS OWN DOMAIN EXPANSION :meguupog:

Fifth, Silver was definitely silent because of how quickly Lin was able to create the dreamscape. That or the sheer amount of Aether he has. She's probably flabbergasted :pepela:

Sixth, I would have never thought that I'd see the shitshow that is America's 2024 presidential election being referenced in this manhua 💀

Seventh, why was Kamala done so dirty with that Joker ass smile 😭

Girl looks like she just cooked up a devious contraption

Eighth, during Lin's monologue about how China's unique culture hasn't been properly conveyed in a AAA game from a Chinese dev, it looks like it's directly referencing Black Myth: Wukong with that book at the bottom of the panel's cover (at least, it looks like Wukong to me) :pepehmm:

Ninth, if you can completely recreate an environment to the point where you can't tell whether it's fake or not in the dreamscape, that really does beg the question of if you could 'revive' a person based off of your memories of them. If so, perhaps they could be able to materialize into the real world too? Quite the interesting concept.

Anyways, sorry for the long winded comment. I found this chapter to be really interesting and wanted to write down my thoughts, so that in the future I can see if I'd guessed some of these things correctly.

And yes, I do need to touch grass

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk! :win:

After over 100 chapters, we finally get some lore about the shadow creature thing Inky.

1. It ate the Sun and Moon. Well, “ate” can just mean kill.
2. It is NOT evil. As we see the way it reacts, Inky was offended by the thought.
3. Consider it revIved the Sun and Moon through mortals, I’m assuming the original Sun and Moon were evil-ish and Inky kinda did a hard reset.
4. At some point or another, Inky was weakened, so it had to make a contract with Lin (his first book). And it’s been regaining its strength since.
5. Lin was NOT a normal child. Could be that Inky already had its sights on him from a young age.

its still pretty evil. I mean it terrorized the neighbor for no reason and manipulates reality so that MC doesn't realise things are supernatural. Its also supporting wang erde and he is one of the most evil ppl in this series.

No way. You don't read about how "Alf's" exist and still believe she's just cosplaying. Impossible. Forced stupidity. So irritating.

I don´t think "Inkey" / "The Darkness" is necessarily evil.
Sure, it mostly deals with eldrich or forgotten knowledge, but I would say it's more true neutral than anything.

Its treatment of customers has generally always been helpful to them as long as they do not disrespect Jin.
If they genuinely want his help they do get it, but if they disrespect Jin they monkey paw the heck out of them.

Yes, Frank Wilde became an even stronger menace to society, but that was also what he wanted.

But they also helped other people who weren't entirely evil, as long as they were respectful.
They even helped his nemesis Joseph ( by removing his curse that was slowly killing him. )
The Priest got the sun book that told him the truth about the moon being a fake moon god.
( its "skin being taken by a beast" meaning "the beast" is now cosplaying the moon with its corpse )

The dark elf merchant ( forgot her name ) became the undisputed leader of her merchant faction thanks to MC and Inkey.
Which now basically funds 40% of the police force that Josepth works for.
( don't think we were ever told what book that was, but he probably thinks it was a book on economics or something )

Doris Iris the regular elf prophet got what she needed as well to help her people.

And Ji Shixu and Burton Ackerman got the power to take their destiny into their own hands and avoid future betrayals.
( From the secret manual to improve their lycanthropy and how to avoid all/most of its side effects and removing "the rat". )

The last 3 do however deal in eldrich stuff in the first place, but they would still be good or at least neutral factions because they still ultimately help the common population by fighting monsters and madmen ( Like Frank Wild )

But people like Joseph's daughter or the music store owner next door who disrespect MC get destroyed by their own wishes.
Joseph's daughter got some books that made her smarter ( to become a better police or something I forgot )
But she was physically unable to stop studying until she collapsed.

And the music store owner wanted Jin to fix the electricity.
So Inkey possessed the powerbox and made his life a living hell...but at least both of them got what they wanted right?

Doing smth good does not just erase equally as bad evil deeds. Yes Its true that Inky kind of "helped" a bunch of people if they are bad or not but just cause one donates smth to an orphanage that doesn't justify r*ping a child. Also thge sword thing is not really an argument since it ate the Curse if I remember correctly. So its like A big shark eating a small shark, just cause the small shark did some bad things the big shark ain't good (I know Sharks are mostly harmless creatures btw. but the metaphor works).
Aside from that removing curse thing the only "good" thing Inky did was giving out the correct books but even then it giving out books was a Neutral action at best since it doesn't care shit about what happens to these books. Honestly there are like 2 things we know about it: It gives everyone a book that wants to without caring and it heavily overreacts if someone slightly inconveniences or harms MC. Thats pretty clearly a Neutral Evil for ya.
A true Neutral would react in an equal manner to any situation. You do smth bad to it it does smth eaqually as bad to you. Inky however? Well he was a bit rude to MC so Inky scared the Living shit out of him giving him mental traumata and other shit for life. Thats not a True Neutral man. Might even be Lawful evil at this point. But really its lawful evil or neutral evil at best.
