I wonder if he would have considered working for his father's company had his father been supportive of his dream.

At least that way even if he couldn't become a mangaka he would have a backup plan.

i imagine other than going full force into some art school/getting a scholarship for that or 'lucking' into winning a newbie award, ppl would at least like, work at a 711 /part time job or so versus some office job as well , but i imagine in comparison to his 'skilled/talented' brother idk if they would've had much use for him or maybe he'd end up just being his brother's lackey or so

Makoto was a shut-in, father and brother abused him. They treated him badly, he didn't get back to high school so when he was 18, they kicked him out.

Japan has massive competition in comic and animation, it's very hard to get a job even as a support for the artist, since more better focus on story, letting background or characters being made by other people.

Mayuko without "Ayahiko" around has abandoning issues, although being abused all the time and even seeing "Ayahiko" with Takagi still want him come back. Damn...

I think Takagi has liking in Makoto, which in his current "relationship" will get her in trouble as Mayuko thinks "Ayahiko" is cheating with his highschool friend...
