To be honest, her attempt of killing Ayahiko was justified after being raped at university, then during marriage in her coping mechanism make believe world mindset, physical abuse because she couldn't fight back and cheating on her although he had a "perfect punching bag" right there. Him dying under a car was far too easy way to die.

Think in the end Mayuko did get back to her make believe world, because after all what Makoto did to her when he pretended to be Ayahiko and after regaining her memories, she should get PTSD again.

Really don't like how Takagi got scot-free, she left her being raped by Ayahiko, she felt guilty when she realised how she fucked up, but did absolutely nothing to help Mayuko afterwards and even managed to say she got married after long time of engagement. Terrible writing.
