Yes, because we are trying to ignore something that is directly shown in the manga and/or novel and discussing assumptions instead. He is clearly not willing to have any normal conversation with her and then flat-out rejects her, but that's maybe because this time he might have noticed Hikari's advances, and even though he probably kinda likes her as a person and possibly used to have fun talking to her before, he might be rejecting her because he could have decided to pursue Hikari seriously.

He's surprised she's at his house, politely rejects her giving the apparently true reason that there's a girl he's always liked, apologizes for making her sad, and walks her to the station. That is the totally normal, somewhat uncomfortable, conversation?
ETA: As this chapter point out, what he's unresponsive to is her flirting.
