In the latest chapter, Yuu finds out 100% that Yami and Hikari are close friends.

People are finding it odd that Yuu would confess to Hikari without mentioning that he dated her close friend in the past. Most people would first want to know that information before making a decision to date someone.

If someone asked me out but didn't mention they dated one of my close friends and I found out about it later, I'd be wondering why neither my friend nor my lover said anything to me.

Releasing this chapter now makes a good contrast between light and dark, chapters 14.5 and 27, and also makes it easier to digest the more drama-heavy chapters.
Yami-senpai, unlike Hikari, who has people to rely on when she gets down and help her stand up again, between that she may end up losing the few friends she has at this point, and the state of her family, she is in a really harsh spot, If she doesn't end up with Yuu, I hope that at the very least she doesn't lose her friends too, she has already gone trough enough shit
