This author is fucking awful, how are they able to make me annoyed at 95% of the characters? Why are they walking through a forest with a princess? The pacing is insanely fast, and nothing makes much sense. Gotta drop this I guess

That knight's type of character is one that I get annoyed by the most

So:

1. Willem ignores someone who needs help but gets nagged to.
2. Tries to help and gets mistaken as the ruffian.
3. Knight attacks without even confirming things first. And would probably have killed him if he wasn't good at evading.
4. Taunts Willem and gets knocked down, asking to killed.
5. Willem tries to but she evades.
6. Blames Willem then insults him for his reluctance to save the princess.
7. Continues to insult him.
   
   

At this point, idiot is an understatement. She instantly made me want to drop the manga.

I'd be more surpised if he would.

I think the Princess calling her out and smacking her around makes the knight slightly more tolerable than other examples of the trope. But still makes you wonder if the author will give a reason as to why someone so incompetent is guarding a princess.

Audience: We're tired of hackneyed tropes and clichés, please just write normal fantasy with an OK story and a bit of "insert genre here".

Author: here's your over wrought, tired clichés and tropes you asked for. As an extra service there were dialed up to 11 and wrote the characters to be extra mentally challenged for comedic effect.

I feel like the princess is an S and she could simply fix this behavior by ignoring her or reassigning her rather than indulging this knight with an obvious fetish for being scolded and defiled

i was not disappointed when i saw the comment above where mines going haha.
though darkness seems to be a lot nicer, pointing swords at people and trying to kill will and possibly others left and right. maybe she's an s+m.

I feel like MC knew that getting involved with the princess was a bad idea from the get go, hence the lack of desire to save her and the immediate willingness to kill the bodyguard when things were getting out of hand.

Or maybe I'm putting too much faith in the author's writing skills. If that's the case then at least it's nice seeing a main character's density and nonchalant attitude apply to more than the romance.
