It seems to be a trend in these types of manhua to kill them one by one from the bottom up.
I'm sure it's done that way for the exact purpose of creating more content - slow pacing to pad the chapter count by rehashing the whole "now the next guy has come for you" thing.

Personally, I'm more a fan of eliminating the entire chain of command in one go to avoid future troubles.
But manhua artists love future troubles - it makes more pages without having to come up with new ideas.
