I guess the only thing I can say is when he was "time warping" or whatever to earth and had that accident or whatever he went to a different earth or something? I'm still lost on how the "Mom" doesn't know who he is, with how they have it right now. Its like he just walked up to a random girl and said "Yup, there's your mom."
