Also to explain the "sitting on bench thing" to those who are not sportsminded and dont get it. Basicly as a team sports player. Players would rarther be a full game player, or starting player, since its more likely they play full games. If your into a sport, you want to play for the full match. ideally. Especially if your good. While theres always people on the bench, its the least desired place to be. So the joke here, is that shes called him up to play. But then stuck him on the bench to watch the match (doesn't appear like she had any intent of brining him on during the match either). Its her way of frustrating him and getting him back from their recent argument. But her frustration is lost kinda because he didnt want to play in the first place. But shes still wasting his time anyway /shrugs.

Didn't notice this the first time, but isn't the opposing team's captain from the same Li family as that small fry who believes he's destined to marry Tang? Would explain the arrogant personality and such.
@Velsy You forgot to mention why playing is more ideal than being benched. There's the obvious more fun to be playing rather than killing time on the bench. Then there's the future possibilities reason. That being if good and playing and are noted by the right people can get sports scholarships and invited to colleges or professional teams looking for talent. However, someone benched won't be noticed, won't stand out, and get a low evaluation due to being considered either troublesome or much less talented than those playing regardless of whether that's true or not.
