Why does it have to be a surprise wedding? Wouldn’t she enjoy it more if she could be involved? They’re already making her feel left out for no real reason
"Surprise, I'm marrying you!" is the kind of thing that's only not creepy in Shojo.
Surprise birthday parties are questionable (especially if you pull the a-hole move of ignoring the birthday all day) but surprise wedding moves a bit into creepy territory.
What the hell? Why did everyone know about them getting married before she does?
No no no no no no no! A surprise wedding is not a thing! Bad Mangaka! Bad!
Kinda tackling all these at once even though all the comments are slightly different, but remember: they're already legally married on paper at the beginning of the series (chapter 6) because they both saw it as convenient and the best way to proceed with their lives considering the situation (plus, they both cared for each other to the extent of friendship). They just never had a wedding ceremony because it wasn't that romantic or celebratory during that time. The point of the entire story is they both fall in love with each other, and they wanted to stay married out of that eventual love. So of course, the surprise party comes from a good place to celebrate the two of them, to do something they never had time or thought to do themselves since they were already legally married. When I first read this chapter, I thought it was incredibly sweet in intention, and I could only think that a humble character like Agnes would feel nothing but joy if she got a lovingly-made surprise party (even if it's a wedding lol)

(but I will throw tomatoes at that bastard Connie)

Doesn't change the fact that a ceremony for her shouldn't be set up without her knowledge. Not only that, but surprise parties in general are a bad idea, especially for one with a past full of being excluded. We already see her feeling down as people are telling her her help is unneeded.
Have the wedding, most certainly, but don't exclude the key recipient from even knowing about it. The notion is sweet, sure, but putting it in practice is a horrible idea.
Point is, he should've discussed it with her and they could plan it together. She, especially, would be having much more fun trying to set things up herself, and the notion of "Relax, we'll set everything up for you" would likely make her feel more loved rather than the exclusion she's feeling now.

Normally I'd agree with you if this were real-life or a manga with a deeper thread of reality and drama, you should never hold a surprise wedding of course. But I mean, give Agnes some credit, she trusts the people of Sutrena completely, and this is a fluff manga with trope characters. Nazel helped her through the Connie moment, and that little forced drama aside, I assure you
it's not so deep that she'd hate or fear the love and effort that goes into a surprise party, as you'll see in the next chapter. Please don't hold it against this series lol, we're in the ultra lighthearted send-off arc

I agree it’s not that deep! I just sometimes forget the genre I’m in and get a little rankled by the things they do.
