Actually I went back to the beginning re-read it, it seems they separated not because the siblings were getting too close but it looks like the parents got bored of their own relationship and decided to get a divorce unless someone who read the LN can tell me the actual reason I welcome it.

Apparently MC saves his sister from being bullied and they kiss and flirt no seggs but apparently bombshell drops and its known now that guitar girl is actually his real blood related sister so this is a TLDR version of what was told to me and others from the previous chapter on page 2 or 3 of the comment section so props to him/her.

The glasses girl is the previous classmate of Fuyuki, the step sister. ch 4
I think the idea is that even though he is separated from Fuyuki, he is still thinking about her. So, he decided to tutor her friend and gain more information about Fuyuki.
Apparently the two former classmates visited Fuyuki at her new place, and they also played online games.
That's where MC realized that something was amiss with her step sister. She told everyone that she couldn't video call because her internet sucks (previous chapters). But he now realized she lied because she could play online game.

Yeah, definitely not a fan of how fragmented the stories are.
I just reread, but it was still hard to follow. They didn't really give obvious signs that there were time skips.
