Considering he was on the verge of using magic to permanently enslave her to his will, you'd expect at least a bit of a struggle, no matter how futile it might have ended up being. Hell, macabre as it sounds him snapping and killing her would literally be a better fate than what he had in store for her.

The Guzerbahn kingdom seems to be far more advanced in magic than the Phantesma kingdom. Looks like Phantesma should start to invest money in magic research and magic academies, otherwise they will soon be helpless against the might of Guzerbahn. Let's not forget that Guzerbahn could casually throw away two magicians skilled in teleportation magic, whereas the whole Phantesma apparently doesn't have a single magician familiar with that type of magic. Phantesma is really falling behind. Logically it would cost them dearly. But then again, this is a shoujo series, so logic is an afterthought.
