That's because you are not thinking of tying him down in your kingdom.
The kid can use all kind of personal magic and also, every other attributes at that. Just those 2 things have already made him either a great ally or the worst kind of enemy all things considered.

Beside, the title was a shame in the first place.
The king is trying to tie him down by marriage with his daughter and was making up reasons to give them a home right there in the kingdom.
Otherwise, he might just go off to another kingdom and be of more service to that kingdom instead.
