Kept you waiting, huh?

Yes, I know it took me a year to get back on this. Long story short, life got in the way with the pandemic and all that. Sorry about that, enjoy the chapter. I have some extra help now, so things should be a bit more consistent now.

Why? This series is licensed in english and you can freely read the official english of all volumes on mangasee123. Plus there's other groups that finished this years ago. Even for a passion project it's still a waste of time

Focus your efforts on something that hasn't been worked on. There's a lot of other good racing type manga that are behind in the translations or never picked up.

@CSmith327 The people who scanned this years ago produced the best results within their capabilities, but let's face it, the typesetting and scans are really subpar. Comixology & Kodansha are also completely inept at producing a faithful translation/localization. I like Initial D, and even if I were to translate other manga, I don't have the raws and am not willing to spend the money for them at this point in time. If you wanted the best Initial D experience you'd watch the anime, the manga is objectively subpar anyway.

Whatever, if even you say it's not as good as the anime then why waste 3 or more years working on it? I would use money to buy raws on bookwalker or other places before I would translate several hundred chapters of a manga that's been finished twice over. There's plenty of great raw ripping scripts and apps you can find on github

Have fun then. It'll probably be years by the time you finish and I'd bet money by then you probably wouldn't follow through with it all the way. I'm just saying in terms of common sense it would be better to work on something that needs more love instead of something like this that's been finished a ling time ago. So the image quality isn't that good? People can buy physical if they really like it so much

We're talking taking on 48 volumes and several hundred chapters here. That'll take freaking forever. There's so many other ways to read it in english. You can read digital from kodansha for free on the site I talked about or the ones already finished on here.

Bro, you are quite the pissant, eh? If the guy wants to put his heart into fixing what is arguably poor quality scans from an old series, the more power to him.
People here don't have to fulfill your personal desires, everyone here does their work (mostly) free of charge as a hobby.

Gah, people like you really grind my gears. I swear...

@desmond_ Keep it up man, Initial D is a great series and one that totally deserves more love. Don't listen to the selfish dregs, do what you want to do first and foremost.

@Lardagus I was saying all of that to save them from the huge amount of time it would consume. I don't have any selfish desires about anything regarding this. I don't understand where you see that from.

I just don't see any reason that would justify spending years re-translating this manga. Unless you think you can do it in a decent amount of time that's fine, but honestly those 700 some chapters are gonna take a long ass time

@desmond_ Altough I appreciate the fantastic scan quality, I think they are slightly too big for MangaDex reading. I suggest uploading scans with x2400 on MangaDex and offering a download link to the full resolution scans somewhere.

@CSmith327 I feel like you have too much time to comment. Is this why you leave 2 comments in a row instead of one? And explaining it like you want to save someone else's time sounds like hypocrisy. More probably you just want to kill some time in idle talk

@permisan I should have also said I meant that as of now, the ways you could "officially" read it involves reading outdated scan quality/bad localization which I personally think is a subpar experience overall. Especially if you're a newcomer. I do prefer the anime as a whole just because of personal/sentimental feelings. Not the best opinion I've written, my mistake.

@introvertchild
@Lardagus
Thank you for the kind words of encouragement.

@Rillant I will resize them for the upcoming chapters in the future, thanks for your input.
