Not sure about DJ clubs, but occult clubs are very common. IRL they don't work like what we see in anime and manga, but Japan is chock full of those. Mostly they're just kids who like reading tabloids, though. If you ask me, the typical goth or esoterica clubs found in American universities (usually folded into the SF/fantasy clubs) are a heck of a lot more hardcore than Japanese occult clubs. I remember when I was in college people who would make their own chainmail (in class!) or learn to read the Codex Hermeticum in Latin.
