Also to everyone saying he’s thick (because I feel like playing devil’s advocate): imagine if you were like him, and just helped some people when you were like 8 years old. Idk about you but I can hardly remember anything specific that happened when I was 8. How tf is he supposed to remember that incident if it had no impact on his life and it was something he did all the time? If you’re going to ask why the girls remembered, then that’s because it was a major event in their life. For him, it was just another day going to his favourite bookstore. He’s not thick, he just doesn’t have a superhuman memory.

Unfortunately, this is a thing I see in many stories, where a number of people comment on the MC being as dense as a brick when he can't instantly figure out what's going on, remember something in the remote past, etc. And these people don't bother to stop and think about whether what's going on is something the MC should reasonably know/remember, and in many cases, there's either no real way he would know, or some other reason he's laying low on the issue.

So in this scenario, while the events had a big impact on the three girls (Rui with her cat and middle school speech, Yuria with getting into manga, Airi with the wafer), to the MC, it was just one-off events that didn't impact his life in any significant way, and he certainly didn't expect them to have such an impact. So it's justified that he doesn't remember those moments.
