Argh, I knew it. I knew that story from the past wasn't just an anecdote - it's happening to Charles-Henri as well. A terribly botched, dirty execution, perfect for everybody who wanted to discredit the Sansons. I can't blame Charles-Henri - he's not fit to do this at all. He would've been fine, if Jean stayed quiet.
Who could expect Jean to stay quiet though? And, after those few chapters of despair and disparity, I can only imagine his sister to suffer greatly. The very fact that they used to (for many centuries) mary and "be with" children, legally and all, terrifies me. Lord's, earl's, king's power is already terrifying, when you're a regular, adult person. How grotesque and dark must it be, when you're just a kid...
