You know, I find it weird how doppelganger stories like this are prevalent in Japan too.

I once read about this guy who worked shifts in some rural factory in my country.

The guy was single, but he rented this side building of a house where some newlyweds lived. The husband was older than the guy. But the wife was younger. The guy and the husband both worked at the same factory, but during different shifts. The side building was close enough so just by listening to the ambient noise, the guy can usually tell whether or not the husband has come back.

I forgot the details, but I think basically, at one day, the guy met the husband midway on the road after a late shift. But after entering his room, the guy ALSO could hear the husband's voice talking with his wife.

The guy didn't immediately realize it was weird since he was tired after work. But once he thought about it , and noticing how unnaturally quiet the surroundings were, he forced himself to go next door and bang on it until it opened.

It took awhile, but the wife came out still covering herself behind the door. The guy asked to see the husband. The wife was reluctant. The guy insisted. The wife was still reluctant, being half naked since she and her 'husband' were about to do their private stuff.

The dude demanded, and at that moment, a very loud screech was heard from inside the house.

When they checked the bedroom, the window was suddenly open, the 'husband' that the wife was just with had disappeared, leaving behind some weird remains of hair and fur. Weirdly, the surroundings were no longer quiet.

The real husband later came back. The guy explained to him what had happened.

The wife told them that the 'husband' said to the wife that his shift was cancelled so they can have some quality time. And the wife absolutely had no idea that it actually wasn't her husband.

Understandably, both parties were spooked then left the area and worked some place else.
