So I'm assuming she did save him and found one of those elixirs she'd thrown away. Since these are her "friends'" great grandchildren (from her adopted daughter, I'm guessing), meaning a lot of time has passed. Good for both of them. Got her lover, friend got her family.

There is a afterword page in the book with nothing relevant (text wise) but there is this illustration so, good end?

He announced the comic ending at the last day of the last year, so early this year I assume. So, not that long.
