Dog breeds with double coats, such as huskies, often have an instinct to avoid water. This is bc water can be really dangerous for them! The double coat gets twice as heavy when fully soaked, which can lead to painful pulling on the skin. In their naturally cold homelands, it could easily lead to death by hypothermia. If the thick undercoat isn't dried completely, it can lead to something called hot spots, which are something along the lines of rashes caused by the dog trying too hard to lick itself dry. All in all, it makes total sense for Ponta to be nervous around water at first.
