Having read the story over again the pacing feels off, like a Cliff Notes version of itself. Especially when it comes to any kind of action scene.
Bandits attack the carriage. Elfriede uses her magic. Reinforcements approach. The bandits are just gone. No further battle, no taking prisoners to interrogate. It's just assumed they are minions of the saintess.
The king and his army attack the mansion. Father and daughter use two attacks, strike a pose, the battle is over, the king walks away.
Brother and Elfriede duel. We see some close ups, but nothing that would allow us to follow the flow of their fight. Brother has Elfriede's sword at his neck. Battle over. Unless the duel really was just him swinging wildly two or three times and her doing one stab.
