The padoru is getting worse ever since Allen get his dumplings, oh no...

Also, "built-in propulsion" eh? I guess that's how a 800km sniping is possible.

@Red225, There are two plausible reasons:
1. As the puppet is made as a servant/soldier, and its cost is nothing minor, it's safe to assume that the puppet is simply devoid of any "premature self-destruct" command, or has safety system that prevent self-destructing when the puppet still has energy's left. I mean, if you just gonna use such expensive and high-end puppet as a nuke, why not just use a proper nuke from the start?
2. Remember that the terrorist doesn't initially have any control over the puppet because of its system security. Only after tricking both Beiyang's and Kunlun's hacker to destroy said security underlayered within the obstructing barrier that they managed to activate it. Maybe that still wasn't enough access leverage to completely control the puppet, and considering the fact that the terrorist's leader doesn't give the puppet any directives during the battle, maybe the only input he can give to the puppet is "Go down to that planet there and kill everyone that lives in it".

As for why they didn't use proper nuke from the start then, i believe it's because of Planet Alkaid's entry security itself. Remember that this planet is previously known as the most secure and peaceful planet. Trying to sent nukes in from outside the planet will only activate the planet's defense system floating in it's atmosphere to shot the nuke up along with the spaceships that carries it. They can't smuggle it to the inside the planet too because the one reason why they can smuggle weapons is because what they smuggled in is only the raw material for making said weapons and then create said weapons after getting inside. With that smuggling method and such a small time frame before the D Day, i don't think it's possible to get a nuke in.

After writing all that, now i have realized a questionable fact. How did the terrorist managed to smuggle the puppet in then? Did they disguised the puppet as mere low-rank puppet or using reasoning that it's system security prevents it from activating thus rendering it harmless to bypass security check?

@haremmony tbh the propulsion of the round isn't really even the main issue there. The guy is standing on a building aiming down but he'd need to be at a height of ~24,500m (about 80,000 feet) to have an 800km horizon line even on a straight shot (Zero bullet drop with weapon leveled). Basically unless that building is about halfway through the stratosphere of the planet he'd be aiming up at the sky and using some sort of satellite guidance for his shot or he'd just be shooting the ground.

@FlashGordan, Well, the propulsion i had in mind is the kind of propulsion that also corrects the trajectory of the bullet, essentially making them a homing bullet. Think of Jojo's Bizzare Adventure series' Mista's stand Sex Pistols. I mean, to me occasionally it looks like the sniper managed to shot from different direction back at chapter 79 :p

But yeah other than that, the defense i have for this 800km sniping case is entirely fictional sciences that may or may not be exist in this manhua setting, lol.

@haremmony Sure, you can correct the trajectory but he's still on a building that's below the troposphere (based on the clouds above him) and if the building he's on is twice the height of the current tallest building in the world (definitely not impossible) He'd be less than 2,000 meters in the air with a horizon line of about 150 km. So first off he can't see what he's aiming at by about 650km and is relying entirely on the computer which is fine (although idk why they even bother having a person fire the thing in the first place then). Then we'll ignore the barrel pointing down in his first panel and assume a perfect line. So a straight shot from that building would reach ground 150km away or have to propel itself along the ground, between who knows how many sky scrapers and whatever else of equal or greater height to his own (of which there are several in his intro panel in ch 79) across a highly industrialized planet for over 5 times its natural trajectory; Which, even if possible, seems absurdly and unnecessarily more complicated than a parabolic shot or shooting it from space.

I am willing to suspend my disbelief and accept that it's -Possible- (somehow) I'm just irritated that they seem to have done everything they could to make it more difficult than it needed to be.

It's like being in your car a block away from home but instead of going straight another block you take a left and go to the next town, drive around there for 3 hours, then head back to your house. Sure you COULD take that path. Your car is physically capable of it taking that path, but, why would you?

@Haremmony @flashgordan, in regards to the built-in propulsion, a multistage bullet makes more sense. Regardless, the bullet that was shown was a standard bullet fired from a casing. That, coupled with the fact that he was on a building shooting at a downward angle is a big issue. The most likely explanation that could've worked would've been a multistage bullet with satellite guidance and short range laser guidance for local accuracy. The gun would've had to be the size of a bus to contain the multiple sources of propellant for each stage.

It would've made more sense for an orbital strike than an 800 km surface sniper.

Let's say he was able to aim downward and hit the target from 800 km. On earth, with a radius of 6371 km, giving a building a height of 10 km (because advanced civilization), the horizon stretches about 196 km. To aim down means the planet needs to be, at the VERY least, 6 times larger than earth. At that size, the mass and gravitational pull would make all types of problems for that scenario.

@FlashGordan, if you're annoyed by the unnecessary inefficiency of having a 800km sniper as opposed to parabolic shot or satellite strike-style, maybe i can present an acceptable defense for that.

It's so that the sniper can't be shot back either by the spaceship from outer space or another sniper. Remember that the Immortal Godmother-assisted counter sniping by the MC actually missed, it only works because the bullet is equipped with shrapnel needle cluster which increase the actual effective range of the bullet. Satellite strike-style could be easily stopped with the spaceship on standby outside the atmosphere. And parabolic shooting is honestly wasn't really that more efficient if the enemy insist on doing it on 800km distance.

I guess the reason why people isn't as annoyed with Mu Siyun counter-sniping back there is because what he does could be easily categorized as a parabolic shot as opposed to the sniping the enemy does.

You know, this whole debate could be easily solved by agreeing that the author simply makes a mistake of drawing the enemy sniper aiming downward.

@Cyoteblack, maybe the planet's gravitational pull is in exchange smaller? I mean, kinda defeating the purpose of the science-fiction genre for a story involving fictional habitable planets other than Earth to avoid having variation just because of real science.

@Red225 Because killing people in a livestream is much more effective than just vanishing everything with a nuke, psychologically. And doing both of them is the most effective, because it suggests that your enemy didn't have any chance in the first place.

@Haremmony Iirc it was suggested that the 7th prince had something to do with the lack of security on the planet, when Dan Dan was attacked in his hotel and he tortured the metal arm guy.

Also, a planet's gravitational pull depends on it's density, which comes mainly from the composition of its core. But as it wasn't mentioned anywhere, after all this "what if" talk, isn't it safe to assume the G is similar to Earth"s?

@Haremmony I agree with you. The problem I have with this manhua is that the author uses relatively realistic factors in one portion, then jumps a school of sharks on another. The outlandish transformations are explained as technology far older and more advanced to the point that it changes humans into beings that have access to theoretical principles (pocket dimensions for storage). The fact that so many of us can think of a far better way to have an attack from 800 km away speaks volumes to the suspension of disbelief that we are being asked to have.

@firosahoge I thought it would be a meme, but some things were eluding me. Thanks for clearing it up with that link. ^^

@Maala, About the same as Earth's G assumption. If "assumption" seems to contradicts what is transpired, why insist on believing that that "assumption" to be correct? Isn't that exactly the time to update said "assumption"?

@Cyoteblack, i mean, it's clear that the author is more focused on the cool points instead of science points for this manhua, and personally i find the concept of a working 800km sniping to be pretty cool actually, so i say the author did good, flawed sure, but still good job.
