First time I've heard a Japanese person acknowledge that modern ramen is Japanese and no longer Chinese, I'm so proud :qq:

Another translation error, it should be Shanxi, not Sanxi. One's a province, one's a tiny little village.

The bit with the dessert is half right. Chinese cuisine did evolve without dessert, but while dim sum does translate to dessert nowadays, he is right that it used to mean snack. However, as such, dim sum was never meant or served as a dessert, it ended up being the main course itself. And while the cuisine did evolve without dessert, there would sometimes be a finishing dish, such as we saw earlier with a sweet medicinal soup, to help with digestion. Over time, there would be development into more proper sweets, like jellies and the such, and those would be eaten after a meal, and so they would enter the dim sum menu as well, but dim sum is a style of restaurant/eatery, not the dessert itself.

I'm sorry but the "French" bit combined with the "Osaka accent is southern" thing just has me thinking they're all speaking with a New Orleans accent now :kek:
