Is it possible to re-write a long series summary if I'm not the original scanlator that posted it?

A series I'm following has a long and detailed description of the first two chapters instead of a brief summary of the series's premise. Can I re-write the summary into something shorter and more concise that describes the series as a whole, and if so, how?

If it matters, the original group dropped the series years ago and I'm in the middle of scanlating chapter 11. It says "posted 7 months ago" but those chapters have been out for years.

You might be able to ask an admin for Contributor status. It allows you to modify manga info, tags and links. Also it says posted 7 months ago because it was uploaded to Mangadex 7 months ago. I don't think Mangadex is even a year old.

Alternatively you can make a group -> claim it -> change the manga description yourself with your new group leader powers
