You act like this is Nobara in JJK, there is no development being made here. If the maid actually dies then it ruins the gag between her and the villainess girl. Now there’s no joke anymore and the villainess girl and her “development” serve no purpose.

But also, like... she did. She did that exact thing! The villain calls out the idea that if the girl didn't drag her maid here, then none of this would've happened; implying the idea that a little girl doesn't want to die is selfish. What's she do? Cry and apologize to the maid even though she isn't there. She eats carrots now. She's staying in this world so her maid doesn't have to work and because in this world she gets to go to school with her.

Like we got that development. There isn't useful development that could happen from a death that didn't happen cause she lived. Just, as you said, removal of a character relationship that was the focus of this volume and is fodder for jokes and further characterization.
