It's actually just a co-op version of the Monty Hall Problem. He felt betrayed because his partner was totally like "no, it doesn't matter, we don't need to switch imagine how embarrassing it would be if we switched and then the door we originally chose was right" and the guy tried to argue but his partner just pressed the "don't switch" button without listening to him, and the thing they lost was the brand new car.

Well, had to call it before things went badly and got too stunned to call it before potato demanded to be the top XD.

As for the Trial...
I had thought the same that potato did, but the question of what would be the "Win Con" makes me wonder.
If it ends up being THAT kind of room, maybe the trick would be in NOT doing it?
Like, think about it!
They are Adventurers, as much as they may not want to do something, they still are familiar with having to do what must be done to survive, especially in ancient ruins and stuff.
After all, who knows what would happen if they DIDN'T do it?
For all they know, each minute that passes WITHOUT doing it, is one minute closer to poison being released in the room, the walls closing in, etc. Or just the fear of being trapped there until both die of dehydration, or a lack of oxygen in the room.
Even if one of them was adamant about doing it, it's likely the other would get desperate enough to assault them to get them out.
So maybe the trick is in NOT doing it, resisting the temptation and/or fear, for who knows how many hours.

Shiina had the same exact thoughts i had about that room. Considering betrayal and losing something important the Kimota people are truly devilish for making such a room, yet at the same time it would be even more devilish to make them think that was the case but it actually wasn't. the memory wiping so they would never know if it was true or not to mess with them would be the kicker if that was so
