Exactly what I was thinking jesus christ, like we have already been estranged from the family so long I won't even feel much when he gets back to them. This is actually just kitchen sink level writing, the second half of this chapter is meaningless if you're going to throw them back to where his family is despite contrived superery dupery low odds.
