Sigh, I really wish I didn't like this series as much as I do. Because stuff like this really makes me want to drop it. A war, 10,000 people vs 10,000 people. In a world of swords and Magic. Yet the order is "Do not kill". I am sorry, man, but it is so unrealistic it just takes you right out of the immersion. If you do not want your characters to kill, don't write them into the middle of a war. Assassins show up specifically to kill. Armies arrive to kill. Yet we are still holding on to this "don't stain your hands" nonsense. What do you think the soldiers on your side are going to do to all the enemy troops you have knocked out and moved on from? Just bad writing.
