I like how this explains the harshness of this world. Like your people are being hunted to extinction and you have to hide to places people can't get you but there's a high chance that you'll die anyways because of the monsters. Like that's depressing. Reminds me of the Native americans being hunted to near extinction by the colonials because they wanted them gone
