Ah yes good old slavery. Because a slave heroine is much easier to keep than a girlfriend, a regular employee (maid), or an animal (cat girl).

"Insert sugar daddy joke here"

So like the Peddler one but more slaves and that other one where he could go back and forth through his shed/backyard area(?) for got the name of that one lol

Don't bring alot of sugar over there. It would crash the market.
not to mention cavities lol, i wonder if there's an isekai dentist yet even as a oneshot (although idk what they did back then other than simply pull out rotten tooth or are reaally meticulous about brushing teeth, i think the pharmacy one had a brief mention about making a snack for cavity treatment for like some little kid prince/son but otherwise i guess it's not something ppl think of, but man imagine directly causing some ppl to develop diabetes)

why do they like slavery so much
Something-something "the writer's barely disguised fetish" Tho I wonder if the ppl who write fiction outside of the 'otaku crowd' include it in their stories unless there'd be too much backlash for that, although other than renting a house or so, feels like it could be quite bad if you buy slaves to bring back home unless you treat them like housekeepers and pay them or so, but assuming he has no family someone coming across some foreign looking ppl saying they're your slave would def cause some kinda reaction

Wonder if there's some charts about how many of these authors are married/divorce

Surprised not to see more ones with 'male slaves' but i know there's at least one (and that's pretty sexual too lol)
Lol, classic generic wish fulfilment. Average looking kid finds a way to another world, gets rich selling ordinary Earth junk and buys beautiful slave... all in the first chapter.

Well, at least there's no adventurer crap or cheat battle skills.
Ironic(?) b/c Buddishm (unless it's diff in Japan) teaches you to not be greedy/let go of material goods and such, versus him being in debt (but i guess not that successful as a writer so you'd think he'd implement that by like selling children's books or so)

Tho if he's going to the slave market to hire a 'body guard' other than to prevent being robbed he's prolly gonna 'adventure' and explore outside the safety of the town's borders

if this MC acts like a retard towards affection and physical contact I'm hella out
Considering the Manga is tagged as "Suggestive" I imagine he's going to act like a turbo virgin. I always get a laugh out of the juxtaposition between the MC buying cute girl slaves and being too much of a fag to lay a hand on them.

while in actuality, I feel like a real merchant at that similar period of time, seeing an oblivious seller like that, would tell his goon to tail him, capture him, and torture him to spew where he got the stuff
That and he's such a sucker. Retard doesn't have a clue and is selling a high value good without understanding its value or what the value of money is. But since this is some goody goody wish fulfillment setting the merchant was more than happy to tell him all about these things. Realistically, that merchant would've seen the sucker for what he was and scammed the ever-loving shit out of him. Tell him the same spiel like how valuable it is and how he cant buy it for any higher, but make sure that profit margin is massive and pay him with pocket change or store credit. Maybe make a deal to be his "exclusive buyer" and get this kid's supply for himself. Manipulate him to get his trust, keep him on a short leash. Instead of telling him to go buy slaves for protection you assign him your own bodyguards "because he's such a valued customer!" and so he doesn't go buy anything expensive because you gave him the impression he was rich.

The tricky part is that he can freely cross. If only the kid can cross then torturing or enslaving him would just make him never come back. If anyone can cross then you run into the same problems the kid did in your world and running into the law because you're a foreigner who tortured and enslaved him.

Don't bring alot of sugar over there. It would crash the market.
If the merchant was smart (which he isn't because this is a wish fulfillment isekai and everyone is terminally stupid) he'd hold onto all the sugar he brings in and play it like the De Beers do with diamonds. Diamonds are only valuable because of marketing and careful control of how much enters the market through artificial scarcity, in reality they have warehouses full of them and have the dosh to keep it secure. For the merchant it's a matter of choosing the right customers, securing his supply, and making money hand over fist.

I have seen multiple japanese comment threads on Pixiv and 4chan manga/anime forums, where they legit debate the pros of slavery.

I am not sure if they are joking or not with how openly they talk about how cool slavery is.
Depends on context I guess, and what I mean by context is: are they arguing about the pragmatics of slavery or because it's their fetish?
Pragmatically, slavery had value and was practiced for pretty much all of Human history and still is even today, though it's abolished in most of the world there's ways around it by being subtle, but I digress. Morally, slavery is reprehensible.

For "primitive" cultures and societies it's a workforce with no rights and one that is controllable and can't impose their cultural ideals onto yours. And since this is in a time where ethics and morality haven't developed to our "modern" standards then enslaving another living being was seen as perfectly acceptable. Prisoners of war, criminals, weaker peoples, the poor: all fair game. You can write it in stories you just have to think it through and not sugar coat it as this glamorous high class thing.

If it's because "elf slave wat do" is their fetish like it is for the author then there's not much to say other than poor taste.

Indeed generic lke many isekai but art is not bad and girls are cute, also monster girls spotted, so i give it 3-4 chapters to see if there are some original elements.

Ah yes, slave + sugar + trading. Sounds like someone introduces Triangular trade in isekai

This is probably one of the more lower end quality of this trope. Essentially shovel ware type of manga

Transported in a different world -> Instantly OK with Slavery.

Cool I can already tell how the story will go based on every single other isekai.

This was going so well until the merchant suggested a slave and the MC just immediately accepted it...

In Isekai stories, there's quite often magic in place to prevent betrayal, so it's an easy way for an author to give their characters someone they can implicitly trust for various reasons, like protection, and for information about the world they're in

Which also degrades potential character and plot development. Forcing a magic spell onto a person making them be obedient and unable to offer resistance including betrayal is boring.
Makes one wonder if Japan still harbors those imperialistic fantasies from the 1940s.
