So did I miss something? It seems like the gate between worlds only happens at shrines that happen to be in public. So where is he going to keep slaves or does he believe he can bring demi-human slaves to earth? He also isn't considering currency exchange, brass and silver coinage would only be worth the value of the raw metal on earth so his money problem at home still isn't solved.

Also the irony that cleaning a Buddha shrine would open up his greedy nature. As far as the slavery, I guess Buddha was never overly concerned about reforming the practice or emancipation, but he did say it was the wrong path. Why can't any of these just isekais just hire a bodyguard or a mercenary troupe? Always some lustful (frequently virgin) teen guy purchasing an attractive female slave. At least it isn't some loli elf or vampire...for now.

I am not sure if they are joking or not with how openly they talk about how cool slavery is.

MC is creating an imbalance of power in that other world with special goods that appear out of thin air, it will end terribly for them. But since the author looks like another slavery apologist, I guess that's not going to happen.

Yeah, that's been done in so many of these series that author probably didn't bother to include the treacherous merchant.

Honestly though, yes, the merchant in such a state would rip him off... even if nothing else is done.

Maybe it's because I'm American, and Japan doesn't have the same cultural stigma of slavery, but I feel like a modern Japanese person should feel a bit more apprehensive about the slave trade.

Just once, I want one of these generic Isekai protagonists to buy a slave, then immediately free them and start giving them a wage for their service.
