I can understand weapons being overpriced. But other than charging you for it, i wonder if it would've helped if he had went into the store and like "Can we stay here for a bit, i think someone's falling us/trying to rob us" and maybe the owner would've fought off someone, or at least call the guards but i assume 'phones' don't exist yet unless they have 'magic communicating crystals' or so lol (tho i would hope the town would be safe enough not to be openly attacked versus an 'accidental bump and pickpocketed')
If not trading sugar like "give me a cheap set of armor" or so but i guess other than oddly dressed in modern clothes, coming in with two slaves might not make you look rich. Or maybe not 'acting natural' b/c i can imagine other than carrying stuff out ppl 'normally' make their slaves wait outside lol
yeah although it is weird they suddenly let their guard down , tho i suppose it'd draw too much attention if they ppl 'targeting' them also went inside a 'fancy' shop (although assuming the beastkin girl fights hand to hand combat without weapons, maybe they can take out slimes/goblins/etc for drops and materials and commission a blacksmith. if not 'double profit' by him starting some youtube channel and having the girls 'react' to japanese food and inventions and stuff and monetizing those lol)I feel weapons being overpriced wasn't the problem. Based off the conversation, they were trying to pass off weapon shape decorative objects as real weapons that made the product overpriced. It's like buying some generic mass produced violin shaped object off Amazon that won't produce a good sound and priced it and pass it off like it was a Stradivarius violin
