The powers are starting to make less sense, and they've explained it more so it's kind of working backwards.
Actually I was wondering about something when I thought about his limitation of changing only one character that I was mulling over. If he's limited to one character, that's in Japanese terms and even then he can just change one character at a time, so he's stuck on editing one digit/character at a time, seemingly. So couldn't he just alter his stats, one at a time, and because one character in Japanese can be a whole word, readjust his skillsets?
I mean, we haven't seen him do anything truly Hacker-ish. Why isn't he tampering with his status? Why didn't he first try to root his status board, change his status view to detailed status view, get down to the point where he can see the back-end workings of the status board, change his limitation of one character digit editing by going into the root of his skill and edit that to be able to edit 9 digit, and from there expand and allow him to edit 999,999,999 digit from that edit 1 to edit 9, which explosively exponentially changes how he edits his score.
Furthermore the death of the guildmaster made me question something. They're in a game like world, I rechecked and in Chapter 1, they have HP. But he killed the Guildmaster which leaves a question, how does HP work? Is it just a general reflection of their own health so if he changed it to 99, would he suddenly gain muscles to reflect that, or does it function like in some other isekais where their bodies damage doesn't reflect the HP they have and they're either immune to death despite things like headshots, or does it have a weird mixed system? If he edits his stats and gives himself 999,999,999 HP, can he still die from just a simple stab to the heart or decapitation? How does HP work in this world?
Also his skillset and profession deals in data manipulation, it just changes the nature of things period. Why is it limited to his ability to imagine? Actually, considering everything, if he could see someone's status as Deceased, couldn't he edit it back to Living and force the world to revive the dead dwarf as well?
There is too much that isn't properly explained. The one limitation we do know of is that he can only edit 1 digit/character at a time, and that he can somehow also falsify his status. Despite being only able to edit one character at a time, he can still edit an entire card as an example. I believe they gave a throaway line that it takes SP to use his editing skill, but we don't know how much and we have no clue how quickly or slowly he recovers...
I have so many questions. But it's very clear that we're just moving from event to event. We're only given the barebones of how the events are going to occur with some foreshadowing that immediately moves to the reveal within the same or the next chapter. The only one thing that was hinted earlier was the elf and that's probably just for some long term stakes or mid-term stakes and even then, it's not as if that mystery is the central element, so we're just being strung along.
As a side note. I do believe I probably gave more thought into this world than the writer.
