I guess the Japanese feel like their ramshackle empire of East Asia was cut far too short when they miss possessing slaves so much. It's one thing the isekai MC's rarely object to owning slaves (not talking about ending slavery in a totally foreign land), but these stories often depict the slaves being utterly happy about becoming slaves, and to add salt to the wound, they more often than not reject the idea of being set free.
