@Thoughtgap i wasn't referribg to african-slavery. This series has too much of a benign outlook on slavery for that. I was referring more to slavery like early Greek slavery, where it was mainly an economic tool to handle debts. There was laws protecting slaves rights back then and slaves were allowed to do pretty much what they wanted, except politics. Eventually though, the system corrupted. Abd over time evolved into what we know today.

Not only this story, Japanese authors sure love their slaves. Go to anilist and filter out all mangas but those who have "slavery" and "female harem" tags and see how many will show up. The best part is that it's not all of them, because some of them are simply not tagged correctly (yet).

I guess the reason for the contract is that Onee-chan left to her own devices could endanger herself, specially now that she lost her purpose in life and is very fragile mentally. Also Onee-chan's very soft, rarely say "No" and anyone could take advantage of her.

While the noble girl is sharp, but she's very soft with Onee-chan, so she ends up being an enabler. On top of that the Noble girl has her duties to take care, so with Onee-chan roaming without a supportive group, Noble girl has one more thing to worry about.

With friend in MC's group (seeing how he takes care of his girls), Noble Girl can at least be more at peace and by offering a house she gains favor with them and also knows where to find the group in case she wants to check out her friend.

the demon girl made sense, since she was already a slave. The priest was a little forced, but it also made a little sense, since she wanted to escape the church. BUT AINE? NO. This is simply bullshit to appease the mind of coomers that fantasize about slavery.
"But he treats them well!" Buddy, no. Slavery is fucked up. Slave play is fine, you can have all the kinks you want, I am not one to kink shame. But this? This is so unrealistic it stops being funny and it's concerning.
That being said, I would also collect slaves in another world, so Ig I'm a hypocrite. I would at least work towards ending racism and change the way slavery laws work, but I doubt I would go to the trouble of changing the views of a whole society to be able to outright ban slavery...
