Maybe it's different in England, but over here it would be considered a dead word.

For any one that still uses those kind of old terms you more hear the word ablutions.

I was wondering what that word was haha. Thought it was either not used or mistyped.

Ablute (by extension ablutions) isn't exactly a dead word, however it's most generally used in more specific contexts. For example the most common usage would be religion based reference to the act of bathing to "purify" ones self (onesself?). It is also less commonly used to refer to cleansing things like oils or other substances with water in chemistry.
