When I see "western tea" in a fantasy series, unless otherwise indicated, I interpret it as what the Japanese would consider Western style tea. However, it shouldn't much matter for the denizens of the other world. Of course in that world there could also be a culture in the west with a distinct tea culture, but in such a case it would be wise from the author to foreshadow it. In this series, we actually have no idea whatsoever what's in the west, east, north, or south from the the single kingdom, in fact the single town, the whole story has been concentrating on.
