I don't know if the novel was made this way, but is clear the manga will go in a different direction from most isekai, MC doesn't beomce a background character, but we'll see this skipping around between people living in the city more.
Is a good thing, most of us got sick and nauseated to the usual stuff.

and it's the reason he's handcuffed in the vol. 9 cover. He's sentenced to "house arrest" or in this case he can't leave the town of Torkiva and must be monitored by the military for the rest of his life, if you want to read further

Because of the artificial beast that produce magic crystal he's hidden in his secret tunnels he's had a surplus of magic crystal, he's been careful to manage the trade through his family business since chapter 8.

That's all well until around vol. 8-9 where the government order the construction of an experimental colossal artificial magic beast in Torkiva. To power it they need magic crystals, he messes up using his surplus of magic crystals and Lola catch the strange surplus of those crystals in the accounting and had him show what he's been hiding, like every time he's hidden new inventions. But this time it's a big deal and since she's from the military he had to snitch to the higher ups and MC is trialed for treason.

If he was any other person he'd already be sentenced to death but all the military he's saved by regenerating their magic organ intercedes and appeal to the government and save his life and commute his sentence to a life of "town arrest" while Lola's older brother is stationed there as the new mayor iirc to keep and eye on MC.

It's been a long time ago I finished reading the WN, and the titles of each chapter don't help much when it comes to finding what happens in each chapter and some event are out of order between WN and manga.
Ch. 81 of the WN should correspond to Ch. 39 of the manga.
